Mads Mikkelsen interpretará al mago Gellert Grindelwald en la saga Animales Fantásticos, luego de que Johnny Depp renunciara al papel debido a la batalla mediática y legal que enfrenta desde hace unos años tras ser acusado de haber agredido a su ex esposa, Amber Heard, actriz de Aquaman.
En un comunicado de Warner Bros que compartió el medio Deadline, se dio a conocer que el actor danés, conocido por protagonizar la película La cacería, será el reemplazo de Johnny Depp en la tercera película de Animales Fantásticos, cuyo rodaje se lleva a cabo en los Studios Leavesden, en las afueras de Londres.
